PMU After care
Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing, color retention, and long-term results. Please follow these guidelines carefully.
Brows
Proper aftercare is essential for smooth healing, balanced color retention, and long-lasting brow results. Please follow the guidelines below to protect your new brows during the healing process.
-
Wash 4x a day for 4 days
Using clean fingers, massage the brows with a gentle cleanser and “lukewarm” water. Pat dry with a clean cotton round and apply a rice grain amount of the provided lotion after each wash. Begin washing your brows about 1 hour after your service.
After 4th day, leave the brows alone and do not wash or apply lotion as to not disrupt the flaking process.
-
Wash your brows with a gentle cleanser.
Avoid washing your brows with cleansers that contain sulfates, charcoal, acids, and micellar/oil cleansers.
-
Until your done flaking (7-10 days)
No exercise or workouts (walking is okay).
Excessive sweating from exercising of heat exposure
Getting your brows/forehead wet outside of instructed washing (sweating/shower/pool/saunas/ etc.)
Tanning bed use or excessive UV ray exposure at any point after having brows tattooed will result in discoloration and fading.
Always let estheticians know of any permanent makeup procedures before receiving services.
Do not pick at flaking or possible scabbing spots will pull ink out permanently.
Avoid Retin A, retinol, tretinoin, vitamin A, or oils on forehead at any point after having brows tattooed. you will need laser removal after use and will not be able to receive a touch up.
No lotion, non-gentle cleansers, or makeup should be applied to the brows until they are done flaking.
Do not pick at flaking or scabbing. Picking can pull ink out prematurely and affect retention.
-
After the appointment, it is normal to feel a sunburn sensation for a few days followed by dry, itchy, or tender skin
Brows will appear darker and bolder a few days after the appointment due to swelling & ink oxidization.
Why Cleanse? Cleansing will remove excess lymph fluid until oozing stops. Oozing is a normal sign of healing, but excess fluid can impact ink retention..
During the next 3-6 weeks, the brows will lighten & shrink up by 40-50%.
The healing process takes up to 6 weeks. Touch ups can take place any point after 8 weeks.
As your brows heal, you may notice color change, disappear, and reappear as the ink settles. Color may flake off and appear softer and less visible but will slowly reappear over the next few weeks as long as the client does not pick at the brows.
In some areas, pigment may not hold. That is normal, and why two appointments may be necessary. Be patient—this is part of the expected healing process.
Lips
Thoughtful aftercare helps preserve color, comfort, and even healing. Follow the instructions below to support your lips as they heal and settle into their final result.
-

Remember, your selected color will appear stronger and more sharply defined immediately after your tattoo. The next day, your lips will appear darker in color.
We can always deepen color at touch-up
After the skin has flaked or peeled away (typically days 3–5), your lips may appear as though little to no color is present. This is normal and part of the healing process.
In the weeks following, the color will blossom into a softer version of the original shade.
Remember! Do not pick, peel, or scratch the lips, as this may cause pigment loss or scarring.
Flaking will feel similar to dry lips.
Why Cleanse? Cleansing removes excess lymph fluid until oozing stops. Oozing is a normal sign of healing, but excess fluid can impact pigment retention.
The approximate healing period is 14 days; however, healing may be prolonged if your immune system is compromised, you are experiencing stress, or your diet is poor.
Keep your lips hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the healing process.
In many cases, slight unevenness in color is expected. This is why we schedule a touch-up appointment, to fine-tune your lip tattoo.
Once healed, apply SPF 30 or higher to protect your lip color from fading
A perfecting touch-up is recommended 6-12 weeks after your initial appointment.

If you suffer from or have ever experienced cold sores, an anti-herpes medication is recommended one week prior to and one week after your appointment.
If a cold sore outbreak occurs, it will generally begin around day 3 of the healing process.
This is not caused by your tattoo or your artist. The herpes simplex virus lies dormant in the nervous system and can reappear when triggered by trauma to the lips.
